Wine Spectator 88 (of possible 100), Reviewed June 15, 2002
A chunky style, loaded with ripe and rich black cherry, boysenberry, sage, mineral and spice, finishing with rocky tannins, but also a sense of authenticity. Drink now through 2007. 3,700 cases made.

From an inland Mendocino County district well regarded for ripe Zin comes this deeply flavored version. It’s stuffed with wild berry and spice notes and drinks sweetly ripe, yet it’s balanced and harmonious despite hefty alcohol. The finish is intricately dry and fruity

Richard Sauret Vineyard
$16.99 Paso Robles
Wine Spectator 88 (of possible 100), Reviewed June 15, 2002
A ripe, floral, richly fruity style, with lively blackberry, black cherry and wild berry fruit that holds focus nicely. Drink now through 2007. 5,980 cases made.
Wine Enthusiast 87 (of possible 100), Reviewed 2/1/03
Kick-butt Zin that pulls off the elusive quest to balance size with elegance. Warm country aromas of Port, chocolate and raisins, but goes down smooth despite 15% alcohol and a bit of residual sugar.

The 2000 Zinfandel Richard Sauret Vineyard (15% alcohol), from one of Paso Robles' most renowned vineyards, exhibits a dense ruby color along with briery, cherry, pepper, earth, and spice aromas. The wine is expansive, rich, and full-bodied, with a clean, vigorous finish. This substantial offering will drink well for 2-3 years.

Old Vines
$14.99 Sonoma County
Wine Spectator 87 (of possible 100), Reviewed June 15, 2002
Marked by herb, white pepper and wild berry flavors, with touches of jam and tea, it's a nicely balanced wine. Drink now through 2006. 2,377 cases made.
Wine Advocate 88 (of possible 100), Reviewed August 2002
The dark ruby-colored 2000 Zinfandel Old Vines exhibits a big, briery, cherry-scented nose with hints of spice and pepper. It is rich in fruit, with supple texture, and fine glycerin as well as ripeness and overall purity. While not complex, it is a tasty, mouthfilling effort. Drink it over the next 2 years.

Carla's Vineyards
$11.99 Contra Costa County
Wine Advocate 84 (of possible 100), Reviewed August 2002
The 2000 Zinfandel Carla's Vineyard is a marginal offering. Its healthy deep ruby color is followed by aromas of sea salt intermixed with herbs and red fruits. There is good freshness and vigor, but its tart acidity and clipped personality kept my score low.
